Yellow Flower
The outer edges of this image are out of focus which highlights the yellow flower. The blurriness of the edges creates a frame around the flower in focus, it surrounds it. The rule of thirds is used here as the main focus of the frame is not centred in the middle of the image. However, there is an unbalanced element to the image as the flower is the only thing that you can look at in the photo that is in focus, which makes the left side of the photo quite empty as there is nothing in focus to look at.
KC Flag
The rule of thirds does apply as well, as the main focus of the frame isn't in the middle of the image. Again it is not a balanced image, even though it does stick to the rule of thirds, because the boldest part of the image is on the right hand side of the frame, whereas the rest of the image has nothing to it apart from the sky. The light colouring of the background contrasts with the flag, which also highlights that flag more and outlines it, as the colour of the red is red and bold but the background colour of the sky is faint and light, so they really contrast with each other.
Pink Flower
This image breaks the rule of thirds because as the main focus of the frame is in the middle of the image. The outer edge of the frame is blurred out, but the elements of it are still eye-catching, and add some balance the image. The stems of the flowers could be seen as leading lines, they start at the bottom of the photo and it goes up through the image which makes you follow it. The contrast in colouring is very clear, the flower in focus is very bright and lightly coloured but the rest of the elements in the image are quite dark and blurry, which also highlights the flower because it is against quite a faint colour.
Purple Flower
The rule of thirds has been broken in some ways here because the focused element of the image is in the centre of the frame, but the other elements of the frame are quite dominant in the image, so the interesting part of the photo isn't just in the middle. The image is quite unbalanced as on the left hand side, there is another purple flower that is closer to the lens, which is a bold feature in the frame. Then on the right hand side of the image, there is nothing really that has a big effect on the frame. There isn't much framing around the outer edge of the image, the for-ground of the image is blurred and the background of the image is blurred, which almost creates a frame around the flower in focus because it is the only element of the image that is in focus, which highlights it.
Red and Yellow flower
The flowers that surround the flower in the middle of the image, create a frame around it which highlights it. They aren't really in focus but they are clear enough to see the outlines of their colours, which create a nice balance of colour throughout the image. The image is unbalanced in some ways, there is a large group of flowers in the background that are quite bold in the picture, whereas the right hand side of the image doesn't have many elements in it background, but the blurred flower has quite a big presence in the image.
Twin Trees
This image is quite symmetrical as the trees are evenly in the middle of the photo. This creates balance in the picture because they are both evenly separated from the outside frame of the image. But in other ways this image is quite unbalanced because the top half of the photo is full and busy with the leaves of the trees, whereas the bottom half only shows two tree trunks and is quit empty.
Yellow Flower
This image is quite unbalanced because the flower is only on the left side of the frame, the flower is quite bold and dominating in the photo because of its bright colour. The rest of the frame doesn't contain anything that stands out particularly. The rule of thirds is a factor here as the main focus of the image isn't in the middle of the frame. However, the other 2 thirds of the frame are quite boring, but I think the bright yellow of the flower and the green of the leaves complement each other and together make the image interesting.
Purple Flower
The purple of this flower is the only interesting colour in this image. This is what highlights it in the frame because the other colours in the image are quite dull. However, the shapes that the other leaves make in the image add an interesting element to the frame, they create quite a cold feeling to the image. The purple flower stands out against the leaves, but I feel that I should've zoomed in closer to the flower so the features could've been more clearly shown. The framing goes against the rule of thirds here because the main focus of the image is in the centre of the frame and this causes quite an unbalanced image.
Pink Flower
This image goes with the rule of thirds because the main focus of the image is centred in the middle of the frame. The bright pink of the flower counts for a very highlighted flower in the frame, however the other elements are quite dominant as well as they cover a large space in the frame and are interesting in their shapes. In this image, I like the way that there is a bright rim around all of the leaves which I think highlights them and creates a unique feeling to the image and makes a good background of the pink flower, The way the light has hit the flower really brightens the middle of the flower and lets you see how to stretches out to the rest of the petals.
For the two picture below -
Shutter speed - 1/8000 sec
Aperture - f/5.6
ISO speed - 2000
These settings allowed us to take focused images when we we running. The shutter speed setting allowed shorter exposure to the light so it would let less light in and this allowed the image to be focused and the aperture was on a smaller setting so this also allowed less light to come to the lens which helped to get a more focused image when someone is moving. The ISO was set to that it had high sensitivity towards the light on speed 2000 so less light was able to get through. These setting together allowed us to take a focused image even when we where running because they let less light in which helped the frame to stay in focus.
For these two images below -
Shutter speed - 1/10 sec
Aperture - f/22
ISO speed - 100
The shutter speed setting allowed longer exposure to the light, so it would let more light in so any motion in the image is blurred, the aperture setting allowed very little light in as the lens was as a small setting. The ISO setting was set at 100 so it had a low sensitivity to light. These three settings were set at the right aperture, shutter speed and ISO speed to create a balanced image when it came to lighting, as the image isn't over or under-exposed. We achieved what we wanted in these images because we set out to create blurred motion and have the background in focus, so these were both successful images.
